My name is Daniel Treggerman.
I am 4 years old.
I live in Kibbutz Nahal Oz in the Sha’ar Hanegev Region of Israel, close to the border with Gaza, with my dad Doron, my mom Gila, my sister Yuval and baby brother Uri. I love to build with blocks, learn the alphabet, and paint. My favorite superhero is Spiderman and I dressed up like him for Purim. My mother says I’m always happy and I’m a responsible little boy. She says I am smart, sensitive and beautiful.
One Friday afternoon, right before Shabbat on August 22, 2014, I was playing in a tent outside with my friends when we heard the Code Red siren. A mortar was launched from a nearby school used as a shelter for Palestinian refugees, landing right outside my home. My sister and I, and all the kids in the neighborhood, practice with our parents and at school, what to do when we hear the siren. But, this time I wasn’t able to get to my safe room in time and I was killed by shrapnel from when the mortar shell exploded a car.
My name is Daniel Treggerman. I am 4 years old. And I am one of The Fallen Faces.
