I am an American-Israeli, but I live with my father Rabbi Amichai, my mother Rina, and my littles sisters, Shira and Kanna, in Kiryat Arba, near Hebron. My Aunt says I am, “the most amazing girl in the world.” My uncle Zvi calls me, “beautiful, charming in every way, social, clever, full of joy and life, humor, ambition and plans for the future.” My mother just calls me her “princess.”
I love school and when I grow up I want to be a zoologist (which is why I decided to become a vegetarian)! I am in the eighth grade and often get to class early to spend time with my friends and my teachers. They say I bring joy and laughter to the classroom and that they appreciate my deep interest in, and care for, my studies. One of my favorite teachers in school describes me as respectful and mature beyond years, which allows me to always see the bigger picture and find happiness in whatever comes my way. And I always try to find the good in others and do whatever I can to support them.
When I am not in school, I like to read and am passionate about modern dance. I love to perform on stage!
In the early morning of June 30, 2016, while I slept soundly in my bedroom after my successful dance recital the night before, Muhammad Taraiyre, a 17 year old terrorist from the village of Bani Naim, climbed over a fence and snuck into my home. He stabbed me dozens of times as my head rested peacefully on my pillow. I was rushed to the hospital where I was pronounced dead.
Today my parents bring joy to others through their vineyard which produces a special blend of wine in my name. And my favorite teacher still leaves a chair empty for me in the classroom of the school I attended.
My name is Hallel Yaffa Ariel. I am 13 years old. And I am one of The Fallen Faces.
